Former NFL star Antonio Brown is set to avoid prison time by accepting a plea deal on an attempted murder charge in Miami. His attorney, Mark Eiglarsh, confirmed the move on Wednesday, noting that Brown is scheduled to appear in court next week to finalize the agreement.
Brown, 38, faced up to 30 years in prison if convicted of the attempted murder charge, which stemmed from a May 2025 incident in Miami. Authorities alleged that following a celebrity boxing match, Brown grabbed a handgun from a security guard and fired two shots at a man he had previously fought, grazing the victim’s neck.
“They made [Brown] an offer he couldn’t refuse,” Eiglarsh said in a statement. “There is a profound difference between believing you can win a case and deciding that you and your family cannot afford to spend another year, or potentially several years, wearing an ankle monitor and fighting it.”
As part of the deal, Brown will plead guilty to a charge of aggravated assault. According to Eiglarsh, the resolution is highly favorable for the former athlete, involving “straight probation” with no jail time, house arrest, fines, community service, or mandatory evaluations. The only requirement is that Brown stay away from the victim.

The victim, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, has reportedly forgiven Brown and decided to stop participating in the case. “We believe that the ends of justice are accomplished with this plea deal, and my client wishes Mr. Brown good health,” Nantambu’s attorney, Richard L. Cooper, told ESPN.
Brown, a Miami native, enjoyed a prolific 12-season NFL career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, New England Patriots, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. A seven-time Pro Bowler, he retired as one of the most decorated wide receivers of his era, recording 928 receptions for 12,291 yards and 83 touchdowns.
