Former NFL player Antonio Brown, 37, is fresh out of a Miami jail after posting a $25,000 bond in his second-degree attempted murder case.
Antonio Brown Hit With Second-Degree Attempted Murder Charge After Allegedly Shooting Into Miami Crowd, Claims Self-Defense In Alleged Robbery
On Thursday (November 6) — after about a 4 1/2-month-long search — the Miami-Dade Police Department confirmed Brown’s extradition back to the United States. Brown was located and arrested by U.S. Marshals who traveled to Dubai, from where Brown posted several videos on social media. Brown landed in New Jersey and was transported to Miami — where he will stand trial on a second-degree attempted murder charge relating to a shooting incident earlier this year in Little Haiti.
On May 16, Brown, full name Antonio Tavaris Brown, went viral after appearing in a huge fight with multiple people. The incident occurred after a 10-match card boxing event, hosted by streamer Adin Ross. During the brawl, several gunshots rang out, with police issuing an arrest warrant in June and searching for Brown ever since.
In the case, Brown maintains that he acted in self-defense, alleging several people target him and tried to rob him. He told police he hadn’t done anything wrong, despite reports claiming he admitted to “slamming” one person’s security guard.
Police Identify Victim In Antonio Brown Miami Shooting, The Two Have History
Police identified the alleged victim as Brown’s alleged former friend, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu. This is the same man who went viral after waving a Palestinian flag during Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Halftime show performance in February.
In June, police arrested Nantambu on charges of resisting arrest and disturbing the peace by interrupting a lawful assembly. Police linked to the men as Brown has posted about his issues with Nantambu on X. The former NFL player wrote:
“That guy is a fraud, liar, stalker & criminal. He was arrested in 2022 for stealing 6 figures of jewelry from me. He then showed up at my show at Rolling Loud in 2023 trying to assault me.
Then in May, he snuck into a gate at the event and came right up to me trying to steal from me and threaten my life, Media hasn’t told this story yet… instead painting a false picture of me. That night I was fighting for my life with his intentions.”
According to TMZ, Brown’s alleged former friend, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, alleged the former NFL player snapped at him during Adin Ross’ boxing event before allegedly trying to shoot him with a handgun. He claimed he was grazed by a bullet in the neck. However, prosecutors were reportedly unable to confirm this in court.
Furthermore, Brown maintains he was only trying to protect himself, which his attorney, Mark Eiglarsh, has reiterated. Eiglarsh told TMZ Sports:
“The actions he was forced to take were solely in self-defense against the alleged victim’s violent behavior. Brown was attacked that night and acted within his legal right to protect himself from an individual who had previously committed criminal acts against him. It’s a privilege to represent him, and I am determined to ensure that justice is served.”
Antonio Brown Released From Miami Jail After Posting Bond In Second-Degree Attempted Murder Case
On Tuesday (November 11), Brown returned to Miami, Florida after extradition from Dubai to New Jersey. Sports journalist Andy Slater confirmed Brown’s arrival with video of him exiting a jet and walking down stairs towards a vehicle on the tarmac.
Before Brown’s Miami arrival, his attorney, Mark Eiglarsh, entered a plea on his behalf on Monday (November 10). He officially pleaded not guilty to a charge of second-degree attempted murder, with a deadly weapon (firearm).
After landing in Miami, Brown was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, a Miami-Dade Corrections facility. Upon arrival, officials took a new mugshot of the former NFL player. On Wednesday (November 12), Brown appeared in bond court and was granted a $25,000 bond. Additionally, the judge ordered him to refrain from contacting the victim and to be fitted with a GPS ankle monitor for house arrest.
While in court, questions surfaced about Brown’s reasons for traveling to Dubai. His attorney told Local 10 News:
“I have documents and evidence that he has an ongoing business in Dubai and he went there in May before any warrant was issued. My client was clearly over-charged. Even the judge said at worst we are talking about aggravated assault.”

On Thursday morning (November 13), Brown was officially released from Miami-Dade County’s Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. News footage shows him hugging his attorney and immediately walking towards a nearby food truck to grab some food, before telling reporters, “God is great,” and then fleeing in an Uber.
While speaking with Local 10 News, onlookers saw him make his way straight to the Fruity Dressed Conch for a cup. Quartishia Mccollum, an apparent worker on the truck, recalled:
“We saw him come out and we just called him over to the truck to give him a meal. I didn’t know he would stop, but he showed love to us!”
Furthermore, Brown’s attorney said he was happy his client is out of custody, after over 40 days since his initial Dubai arrest, stating:
“We are extremely grateful that he is out after over 40 days of incarceration. He is extremely eager to rejoin his family who he loves dearly.”
