Amoeba Music said in a statement that their three California locations are currently in danger of permanently closing due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Okay Player, Amoeba Music co-founder Marc Weinstein released a statement on the company’s GoFundMe page saying their future is uncertain due to the pandemic. Since mid-March, their three stores have been closed and will remain closed “indefinitely” due to the lack of revenue keeping the locations afloat.

“All three of our stores have been closed since mid-March and must remain closed indefinitely. With no way to generate income, our savings are running out, with bills and rent coming due, and with a primary commitment to our staff, who we are trying to keep as healthy and financially sound as possible.”

The fundraiser states that the proceeds will help pay employees and to continue operations.
“We’re exploring every possible means of support, including federal and local grants and loans. But these funds are not guaranteed to come in, and they won’t meet the needs of our short-term future. So, we most humbly ask for your help. We know that this is a very difficult and uncertain time for everyone, and we understand that there are many individuals and organizations in need.”
Their original location in Hollywood will be permanently closed and the company will remain focus on opening a new store.
