Recently, CNBC released their study titled, ‘America’s Top States for Business.’ Per the publication, the list considers “how welcoming each state is to workers and their families.” Taken into consideration for the study are ten categories of competitiveness; including Life, Health and Inclusion.
CNBC noted that this year, with the nationwide worker shortage being so severe, the were super dialed into the category of life, health and inclusion when conducting their study. Additional categories factored in included crime rates, environmental quality, and health care. The publication’s researchers also look at the quality and availability of childcare, which helps get parents back on their feet and back into the workforce.

The publication also noted that they took into consideration inclusiveness and voting rights in each state, especially with states who give women the right to an abortion. CNBC revealed when making a choice of where to live, in the wake of the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade, women highly consider which states are are pro-life and fight for women’s rights.
Before getting to the list, which states do you think made number best to live and work in, and worst to live and work in? According to Democratic North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper, he’s worried that after being named the number one best state for business in 2023, other southern states will soon follow and take over, like Florida and Texas.

Now, let’s get into these lists. As for America’s top 10 WORST states live and work in for 2023, number 10 is Florida. Coming in at 9 is Arkansas. Number 8: Tennessee. Number 7: Indiana. Number 6: Missouri. Number 4 is a tie between Alabama and South Carolina. Number 3: Louisiana. Number 2: Oklahoma. And the number 1 worst state live and work in is Texas.
As for America’s top 10 BEST states to live and work in for 2023, number 10 is Connecticut. Number 8 is a tie with Massachusetts and Colorado. Number 7: Washington State. Number 6: Oregon. Number 5: Hawaii. Number 4: Minnesota. Number 3: New Jersey. Number 2: Maine. and the number 1 best state to live and work in is Vermont.
