Amber Heard’s sister, Whitney Henriquez, says she’s ‘proud’ despite verdict: “I still stand with you, sissy”
Amber Heard’s sister Whitney Henriquez is breaking her silence just days after the actress took a major loss in the defamation trial against that was brought upon Beard’s ex-husband, Johnny Depp.
Whitney who testified on her behalf during the big, televised trial offered her support for her big sister on Instagram Sunday. She said,
“I still stand with you, sissy. Yesterday, today, and tomorrow I will always be proud of you for standing up for yourself, for testifying both here in Virginia and in the UK, and for being the voice of so many who can’t speak to the things that happen behind closed doors,” wrote Whitney, 34. “We knew that this was going to be an uphill battle and that the cards were stacked against us,” she continued. “But you stood up and spoke out regardless. I am so honored to testify for you, and I would do it a million times over because I know what I saw and because the truth is forever on your side.” Whitney concluded her message, “I’m so sorry that it wasn’t reflected in the decision made by this jury, but I will never give up on you, and neither will anyone who stands with you. Forever by your side… #istandwithamberheard.”

What Happened During The Trial?
As we previously reported, Depp, who received a total of $10M in compensatory charges related to lost career opportunities and $5m in punitive damages, won his defamation lawsuit on all three counts against his ex-wife which all stemmed from a 2018 op-ed she wrote in The Washington Post about being a victim of domestic abuse. The actress, 36, will only have to pay $10.35 million due to a Virginia law capping punitive damages (the judge reduced the amount).
Her attorney says they plan to file an appeal. While appearing on NBC’s The Today Show this Thursday, attorney Elaine Bredehoft told Savannah Guthri that her client is “absolutely not” able to pay the millions in damages that the Pirates of the Caribbean actor won after a jury deliberated for three days following the trial.
So how does Johnny Depp feel after his huge victory? Depp released a statement detailing that his life was “forever changed” by the incidents:
“False, very serious, and criminal allegations were levied at me via the media, which triggered an endless barrage of hateful content, although no charges were ever brought against me,” the statement read. “It had already traveled around the world twice within a nanosecond and it had a seismic impact on my life and my career. And six years later, the jury gave me my life back. I am truly humbled.”
