Amazon Founder Jeff Bezos Overtakes Elon Musk To Become The World’s Richest Person Again
Welp, Jeff Bezos is the world’s richest person again, ending Elon Musk’s roughly six-week reign atop the list.
The Amazon founder reclaimed his title this Tuesday as Musk lost about $4.5 billion after Tesla (TSLA) shares fell 2.4%, which was enough to knock him to second place on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index ranking, CNN reports. While Bezos’ net worth also fell as the broader stock market lost a bit of ground, his loss wasn’t as extreme, only taking a hit of about $372 million.
According to the news site, it was enough to reclaim the title that he held for about three years. As of right now, the index says Bezos is worth $191 billion compared to Musk’s $190 billion.
This latest news comes shortly after he announced earlier this month that he’s stepping down from his CEO role and will transition to the role of executive chair later this year.
Bill Gates currently remains at the world’s third-richest person with $137 billion of worth.
