Amazon Claims Emails Sent To Employees To Delete TikTok Was An “Error”

Amazon stated that an email sent to employees early Friday to delete the app TikTok from their phones was actually an “error.”

The email was originally tweeted by New York Times journalist Taylor Lorenz where it says “Due to security risks, the TikTok app is no longer permitted on mobile devices that access Amazon email. If you have TikTok on your device, you must remove it by 10-July to retain mobile access to Amazon email. At this time, using TikTok from your Amazon laptop browser is allowed.”


Business Insider reports Amazon backtracked on the email and said it was actually an error sent to their employees.

“This morning’s email to some of our employees was sent in error. There is no change to our policies right now with regard to TikTok,

In reaction to the viral email, TikTok released a statement saying the companies had no communication prior to the email.

“While Amazon did not communicate to us before sending their email, and we still do not understand their concerns, we welcome a dialogue so we can address any issues they may have and enable their team to continue participating in our community,
