According to TMZ, Wanda says her son’s tragic death has become a full-blown business for one of her son’s friends, a former coach along with others and she’s had enough. In a doc obtained by the news site, Wanda says she’s extremely alarmed by the “I RUN WITH MAUD” social media pages, which were initially started as a memorial to her son. Although Ahmaud’s friend, Akeem Baker, came to her with the idea and she was on board at first, she didn’t like the fact the page is now being run like a business.
To add, Wanda claims Akeem even started a GoFundMe page for her son, something she never even asked him to do. The page raised nearly $2 million. Wanda points out that someone also filed for an “I Run With Maud” trademark. She claims the applicant never even knew Ahmaud.
She also calls out Jason Vaughn, a local high school coach who she claims did not have a close relationship with Ahmaud. She says his Foundation 2.23 — which refers to the date Ahmaud was killed — held a big fundraiser, but wants to make it clear the foundation is not affiliated with her family. As TMZ reports, Wanda says she’s could not stay silent in the face of what she sees as injustice. She’s not asking for any money, because no amount of cash can change the fact her son is no longer here.
