#Socialites, can you see it? Actor Dave Franco says his phone has been flooded with texts from people claiming he could portray UnitedHealthcare CEO murder suspect Luigi Mangione in any movies or documentaries.
During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, 39-year-old Dave Franco, who’s starred in films like ‘Now You See Me,’ 21 Jump Street,’ and ‘Neighbors,’ revealed his phone has been inundated with text messages from people comparing him to UnitedHealthcare CEO murder suspect Luigi Mangione, claiming, “I have never received more texts in my life about anything.”
On January 25, THR published an interview with Dave Franco and his wife, actress Alison Brie, plus director Michael Shanks as they sat down to discuss their Sundance Film Festival film ‘Together.’ During the discussion, Dave Franco was asked, “Has anyone approached you to play Luigi [Mangione]? Like a ‘Hot Luigi?'”
Sarcastically chiming in, Brie asked, “Anyone? Do you mean everyone?” Franco then replied, “I have never received more texts in my life about anything.” Brie laughed and said, “But, I don’t think there’s been any official offers.” Franco confirmed, “Yeah. No official [offers].”
The interviewer then asked, “It’s just friends being like, ‘Hey, you look like this guy.'” He agreed and added, “It’s just friends.” He laughingly noted, “Anyone who has my phone number has reached out about it.” The interviewer then joked and said, “They’re like, ‘Where were you that [day?],” and Franco smiled, nodded, and repeatedly said, “A little bit.”
There are currently no scripted movies in the works, however, several documentary projects about the UnitedHealthcare CEO’s murder are currently in production, including one from Oscar Award winner Alex Gibney, according to Deadline.

As we have previously reported, Luigi Mangione, a University of Pennsylvania graduate, is the suspect accused of murdering the CEO of UnitedHealthcare, Brian Thompson. The 26-year-old suspect was accused of murdering the 50-year-old CEO in broad daylight in Manhattan, New York on December 4. Thompson was gunned down outside a hotel as he walked to an investor conference.
After a 5-day manhunt, Mangione was found at a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pennsylvania, where police recovered a gun that matched three shell casings found at the crime scene, along with matching fingerprints that investigators found on a water bottle and snack bar wrapper in NYC. Days after his arrest, he was extradited to New York City, where he has since pleaded not guilty to the CEO’s murder and terror attack charges.
He is currently being held in the same Brooklyn jail (Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC)), as Sean “Diddy” Combs, born Sean Combs, and is also being represented by the same attorney Mark Agnifilo, with help from his wife Karen Friedman Agnifilo.
