As The Democrat reports, Salau disappeared June 6. Just hours before her disappearance, Salau tweeted she had just been sexually assaulted. She said a man, who appeared to be in his mid-40s, offered her a ride to a church where she had sought refuge to “escape unjust living conditions.” “He came disguised as a man of God and ended up picking me up from nearby Saxon Street,” Salau tweeted. “I trusted the holy spirit to keep me safe.” Salau began trending on social media after several people replied, asking if she was okay, but the 19-year-old never responded.

While many people prayed for Salau to return safely, The Democrat reports that the teen was found dead Saturday night off Monday Road in southeast Tallahassee. A 75-year-old woman named Victoria “Vicki” Sims was also found dead. Police identified the suspect as 49-year-old Aaron Glee Jr., who lived on the road where their bodies were found.

Glee has been taken into police custody, according to Forbes. However, any charges against him are unclear.

Stars and public figures includingBernice King Jr, Kehlani, and more paid tribute to her on social media.
