While appearing on Fox and Friends this Friday morning, President Donald Trump gave a major update on the case surrounding Charlie Kirk’s killing.

Trump Confirms Suspect In Custody
During the interview, Trump said, “with a high degree of certainty,” the man possibly behind Charlie Kirk’s death is in custody. He also gave credit to law enforcement, thanking everyone who worked around the clock to track him down. According to officials, more than 7,000 tips and leads poured in during the investigation. However, officials have not yet released the suspect’s name or motive the motive behind the attack just yet.
The FBI previously shared photos of the person of interest, showing a slim white man wearing glasses, a hat, blue jeans, and a sweatshirt with the American flag and eagle. That release sparked nationwide tips, eventually leading to the suspect’s capture. Right now, investigators are keeping details close as they build their case.
Two people were initially detained and questioned by investigators but had been released.
Trump Calls For The Death Penalty
While speaking about the suspect who caught, Trump shared how he should be punished. He said, when the suspect gets his time in court, “he’s going to be found guilty, I would imagine. And I hope he gets the death penalty. Charlie Kirk didn’t deserve this., everybody liked him.”
His words sparked instant reactions online. While it’s true Kirk had many MAGA supporters and conservatives rally behind him, critics pointed out that his politics were polarizing. Still, as many stressed, nobody deserves to be killed in such a public and violent way.
Who Was Charlie Kirk?
Charlie Kirk was known nationally as the co-founder of Turning Point USA, a conservative nonprofit organization focused on mobilizing young voters and pushing Republican values on college campuses. He hosted debates, rallies, and speaking tours where he encouraged students to challenge liberal ideologies. His work gave him a strong base of support among MAGA followers and Republican circles. Many credited him for giving Gen Z conservatives a louder voice in political spaces.
At the same time, Kirk was a polarizing figure. Critics often pushed back against his political messaging, accusing him of spreading harmful rhetoric. The Aftermath Of His Death
As previously reported, Kirk was shot Wednesday while addressing a crowd in a courtyard at Utah Valley University in Orem. Hours later, Trump confirmed his death. He was only 31 years old. Kirk leaves behind his wife and two young children. For supporters, his passing is being described as the silencing of a major conservative voice.
