An extremely disturbing and horrifying incident in the Bronx has sparked outrage and concern within the community and online after a viral video captured a man lassoing a woman with his belt before subjecting her to a vicious sexual assault. The incident, which occurred on May 1, has left residents socked and scared.
In an effort to apprehend the perpetrator, the police has since released the disturbing video late Thursday. The footage shows a man trailing a woman near East 152nd Street and Third Avenue, engaging her in conversation. Seconds later, he positions himself behind her.
What follows is truly chilling: The man proceeds to cover his face with a white towel or shirt, concealing his identity. Then, he removes his belt and swiftly loops it around the woman’s neck, forcefully tugging her backwards and causing her to fall to the ground. The impact of her head hitting the sidewalk renders her unconscious. Seizing the opportunity, the assailant drags her between two parked cars, where he proceeds to commit the sexual assault.
Authorities have noted that the surveillance footage reveals the man leaning over the victim, constantly scanning the area for any potential witnesses.
Sadly, no arrests have been made yet in connection with this distressing incident. However, the victim is said to be in the process of recovering from the physical and emotional trauma she endured.
The Special Victims Unit is now actively conducting an investigation into the matter, as they work tirelessly to bring justice to the victim and restore a sense of safety within the community.
