A Wisconsin teacher has been sentenced to ten years in prison for sexually assaulting a student and forcing him to perform the acts in a school basement. She initially faced over 600 years in prison.
In 2022, police reportedly accused Anne Nelson-Koch,75, of repeatedly assaulting the then 14-year-old student during school hours throughout the 2016-2017 school year at the Tomah Baptist Academy. According to TOO FAB, the assaults stopped when she left the private school, and Nelson-Koch didn’t attempt any further contact with the victim. But she sent him a Christmas card after bumping into him at a Walmart store, and the victim went to the police in December 2021 when they started attending the same church again.
A jury found Nelson-Koch guilty on 25 counts of sexual assault of a child, child enticement, exposing intimate parts, and intimidation of the victim in August. However, Monroe County Circuit Court Judge Richard Radcliffe said during the trial that she was “not someone who normally would be seen in the criminal justice system facing 600 years of prison” due to her “selfless” reputation in the community.

Assistant District Attorney Sarah Skiles argued that Nelson-Koch used her reputation as an attempt to prey on the victim and felt that she should serve 100 years in prison rather than have 60 years of probation after her release.
“A sexual predator has been held accountable for her heinous actions and will not be a threat to our community for the next 10 years. There is no higher priority for this office and our law enforcement partners than protecting children. We will spare no resource to make sure the full weight of the justice system is brought to bear on those who victimize our children.”
The victim’s father also said his son came forward to make sure she couldn’t harm another student, and he pleaded with the judge to keep her behind bars for life.
