DC Young Fly Releases A Statement Following The Sudden Passing Of Partner Ms. Jacky Oh

The news of Ms. Jacky Oh’s sudden passing is still very hard to take it. However, her partner DC Young Fly and their family is speaking out to share how appreciative they are for all the support during this extremely difficult time.

DC Young Fly, whose real name is John Whitfield, and his family shared a statement with PEOPLE saying: “We thank everyone for their well wishes and ask for privacy during this difficult time.” 

Jacky was found unresponsive at the Homewood Suites by Hilton Miami Downtown/Brickell on May 31. She was transported to a hospital in Miami, Fla., where she died before midnight, according to a Miami Police Department report. “She was transported by Miami Fire Department to Mercy Hospital where lifesaving efforts were conducted,” The Miami Police Department’s Public Information Officer confirmed, “but unfortunately, she was pronounced deceased at the hospital.”

As news broke about her death, her family released their first statement on June 1.

“It is with [sad] hearts we share with you that Jacklyn aka MsJackyOh has passed away on Wednesday, May 31st, 2023,” the statement read. “Our family is still processing this very tragic and unexpected loss; we ask that you please give us privacy during this time.”

Jacky Oh, whose real name is Jacklyn Smith, met DC Young Fly on the set of Nick Cannon’s Wild N’ Out. The show also released a statement on her tragic passing saying,

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Jacklyn Smith, known to the world as Jacky Oh, a talented Wild N’ Out family member whose impact will be forever treasured and missed,” read a statement posted to the show’s social media pages June 1. “Jacky Oh was a loving friend and beloved colleague of the Wild N’ Out cast throughout five seasons. More importantly, she was a tremendous mother to three beautiful children. The BET Media Group extends our sincere condolences to the Smith family, DC Young Fly, B Simone, Nick Cannon, and all friends who loved and cared for Jacky Oh during this difficult time,” the post concluded.


Jacky Oh was no longer on the series but instead working as a realtor and had recently launched a lip gloss line. Sources also told TMZ that Young Fly was filming the show in Atlanta when he got the heartbreaking news of Jacky Oh’s death.

One of her last social media posts includes a Morher’s Day post where she shared stunning images from a family photo shoot. “I do a lot. but being a mommy is my favorite,” she wrote on Instagram. “God chose me 3X. I promise I never take it for granted. I’m so damn blessed man!” DC Young Fly commented two hearts emojis.

The two shared three children — Nova, 6, Nala, 2, and Prince Nehemiah, 10 months. Jacky Oh was just 32 years old.

She will be greatly missed.
