Earlier this month a video posted by Stacey Dash made its rounds online. It showed the “Clueless” star sobbing and she just learned that rapper DMX had passed away in April 2021 from a cocaine-induced heart attack.
“I was strolling through #tiktok and found a #DMX song that has saved me many times,” Stacey, 55, captioned the Aug. 31 Instagram post. “Suddenly it says #RIP I know I am late, I did not know he passed away, he #OD I am heartbroken – he was such a great guy.” Dash said in the clip that she felt “ashamed” that she is just now finding out about DMX’s death. “I didn’t know DMX died,” she explained. “I didn’t know from a cocaine overdose.” She added, “I am today, six years and one month clean and it breaks my heart. It breaks my heart that he lost to it. He lost. He lost to that demon of addiction. Please, please don’t lose.”
Now, although some fans had compassion for the actress who was previously open about her past drug addiction, fans were quick to troll her for not knowing the big news. One Twitter user said, “Stacey Dash didn’t know DMX passed because she purposely distanced herself from our culture. Not because she’s slow lol I think that went over y’all heads.” A
A second person added, “Stacey Dash has fully transitioned into a white woman and she got online crying on camera pretending that nobody told her that DMX died over a year ago just to show us that the operation was successful.” A third continued, “Where the hell has Stacey Dash been for her to JUST find out that DMX passed away?!” While Dash has not responded to the backlash, she seems pretty unbothered. She posted another video early Friday morning bumping the late rapper’s music. She captioned the post, “Devil I Rebuke You.”

More On DMX’s Passing
As we previously reported, DMX, whose legal name is Earl Simmons, died on April 9 at the age of 50 in Westchester County, New York. He was hospitalized on April 2 where it was previously reported by TMZ that he suffered a drug overdose and heart attack.
Over the years, DMX, who was the cornerstone of the Ruff Ryders label, battled substance abuse and had been to rehab several times. His last rehab stint was back in 2019 and came after he completed a 12-month sentence for tax evasion. At the time, DMX hadn’t relapsed but decided to check himself into rehab out of fear he might again and avoid that from happening again.
Following the news about his tragic death, his family said in a statement, “Earl was a warrior who fought till the very end.” “He loved his family with all of his heart, and we cherish the times we spent with him. Earl’s music inspired countless fans across the world, and his iconic legacy will live on forever.”
