Dana Jones said her daughter Jordyn was sent to the bathroom before the class trip and heard someone say, “hurry up.” After she came out of the bathroom, the six-year-old was left alone at the Creative Kids Center for the next several hours without food. A  parent found her around 5 p.m. and took her to another location across the street. Action News reported that the incident occurred on August 16 and Jordyn’s family protested outside the center to warn other parents about the situation.

“She could have went missing, she could have been harmed. Anything could have happened, her father, Mark Simpson, said to the news outlet. Further investigation revealed that the center had several violations this year, including incomplete CPR training and employees working at the center without clearance from the FBI.

“This should never have happened to my child and I want to ensure it never happens to any other child. Me getting that phone call, working 30 minutes away, my mind went through so many scenarios. God only knows what could have happened.” Jones said to Fox 29.

The daycare’s director, Raushel Davis, called the incident an unfortunate situation and was asked if it was protocol for her staff to check attendance before leaving for field trips. She said there was an attendance list for the trip involving Jordyn but didn’t disclose how she was left behind.

“It was one of those mornings where it was just a perfect storm of what happened, we are definitely thankful nothing happened to the child, she was perfectly safe. They check all of our paperwork. Everything is good,”

The incident is being investigated by the DHS and Philadelphia Special Victims Unit.
