Kanye’s Style Inspiration For 2022 BET Awards Comes From Emerging Painter & Digital Artist
Last night Kanye West made a surprise appearance on the BET Awards where he presented Diddy with the Lifetime Achievement Award. The appearance set both the internet and Twitter abuzz with everyone talking about Kanye’s style decision to wear sun glasses with a mask. Although Kanye’s appearance may have been surprising to most viewers “those in the know” have already tied Kanye’s appearance to painter and digital artist Vincent Peters.
Peters is rumored to be working with Cuban protest artist and Time 100 Magazine Most Influential Person for 2021 Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara. Images on Peters Instagram (above) show Basquiat styled art, created by Peters, of Alcántara in his gallery in Cuba.
As for the direct connection to Kanye, Peters’ Instagram shows recent pictures of Peters with XXXTentation’s Mother, Cleo Bernard, and lawyer, Bob Celestin, on separate occasions. On May 27th True Love, Kanye West ft XXXTentation was released as a single and was previously featured on Kanye’s Donda II. There is speculation that a video for True Love is in the works and that Peters is working on artwork to be included in the video.
