Lori Harvey and Michael B. Jordan have gone their separate ways following news of their split over the weekend. And now it’s being reported that the pair are said to have called it quits because Lori wasn’t ready “to take the next steps” in their relationship, sources tell PEOPLE. The publication, which also exclusively revealed the pair’s split, claims that the model and entrepreneur couldn’t see herself moving forward with Michael because she wanted to remain focused on her career.

An insider added that the 25-year-old hadn’t been on the same page with Michael, 35, as far as their future was concerned because she “still wants to have fun and be free.” And though she is sad to move on from their romance, which lasted a year and a half, Lori still thinks highly of her ex, which would imply that their breakup wasn’t on bad terms.

“Michael matured a lot over the course of their relationship and was ready to commit for the long term,” the source spilled. “He let down his guard with her, opening up emotionally in a romantic relationship for the first time. They had great times together and brought out the best in each other. She still wants to have fun and be free. Michael is a great guy. She is sad that their relationship didn’t work out, but she is moving on.”

After news of their split made headlines, Steve Harvey seemingly addressed his stepdaughter’s split from her beau as he made some interesting comments on Monday during The Steve Harvey Morning Show. And judging by his remark, Steve didn’t seem all that devastated by the breakup.

In one segment of the show, co-host Shirley Strawberry is heard saying through laughter, “We trynna make sure Lori’s alright,” to which Steve jokingly responded, “I gotta start learning from my children, get out early or it costs you something. I waited way too late. I’ve got to figure this out.”

Despite Steve’s light-hearted joke about the couple’s split, he’s believed to have shared a very close relationship with Michael during the time he was seeing his now-ex. In a previous appearance on Ellen, Steve spoke highly of the California native, who had “really come through” on Christmas presents for the family, as he joked yet again, “that’s why I like him.”

Michael and Lori have both refrained from speaking about their split on social media. The SKN by Lori Harvey founder was perhaps too busy to issue a statement given that she was seen attending a friend’s baby shower over the weekend, which she later posted on her Instagram Story. Clearly, she was not in the mood to be talking about the end of her romance with Michael.

Lori and Michael were arguably one of the hottest couples in Hollywood after they went official with their relationship in 2020, shortly after the socialite had called things off with former boyfriend and rapper Future.
