The man, identified as Toko, purchased the costume from Zeppet, a Japanese company that specializes in sculptures and models for movies, and amusement parks. The company also designs costumes for famous TV and movie mascots and Toko’s costume took approximately 40 days to make. He also went through fittings and revisions plus meetings to make sure the costume suited his needs as reported by Yahoo! News.

Toko said he picked a Collie because the costume looked “realistic” whenever he tried it on and he’s a fan of four-legged animals. “My favorite is quadrupedal animals, especially cute ones. Among them, I thought that a big animal close to me would be good, considering that it would be a realistic model, so I decided to make it a dog. I met such a condition and made collie, my favorite breed of dog,” he explained in an interview with Mynavi.

“Long-haired dogs can mislead the human figure. I met such a condition and made Collie, my favorite breed of dog.”

Toko also said the costume has limited movement but he can walk around in it.

The company’s owner said in the interview that they had to study how to create the skeleton of a dog because the body structure is different from a human.

“The point is that the skeleton of a dog can be reproduced on the skeleton of a human. Since the structure of the skeleton is very different, we spent a lot of time studying how to make it look like a “dog”. In addition, we collect photographs taken from various angles so that the beautiful coat of Collie can be reproduced and devise so that the coat will flow naturally.”
