Jelani Day: What We Know About Aspiring Doctor’s Disappearance
Yesterday we shared the story of Jelani Day, an Illinois State University graduate who disappeared on Aug. 24 and hasn’t been receiving the press that he deserved.
Day’s mother pleaded with the public for help and urged the police to be more active in his search as her son has now been missing for weeks.
Per NBC 5, the 25-year-old student was last seen Aug. 24, and he was reported missing by family members after he did not attend classes for days. His mother, Carmen Bolden Day, adds that this is very out of character for her son.
Day was studying to become a doctor and was attending school to obtain his master’s degree in speech pathology.
“I need him to come home so that he could continue his journey of becoming Dr. Jelani Day,” she said.

On August 24, Day’s vehicle car was discovered abandoned on Aug. 26 in a wooded area by the Illinois Valley YMCA in Peru.
“When officers arrived, a vehicle was located concealed in the wooded area,” Peru police said.
Day was last seen wearing a blue button-up collared dress shirt, black pants, a black belt, black dress shoes, and a blue face covering.
