Video Shows Flight Attendant Attempted To Open Emergency Door During Delta Flight

An off-duty flight attendant was apprehended by passengers and other flight attendants when he tried to open the emergency exit near the cockpit during a Delta Airlines flight from Atlanta.

The incident took place on Delta flight DL1730 after it departed from Los Angeles Friday evening. Authorities said a witness saw the off duty male flight attendant wearing a white crash helmet and he had a front row seat in first class. During the flight, he made an announcement to his fellow passengers to sit down and be prepared to wear their oxygen masks.

A video of the dangerous situation shows passengers and flight attendants trying to restrain the man after he tried to open the front emergency exit. Various other clips show flight attendants screaming for help and the captain asking for “able-body men” to assist.

The flight landed in Oklahoma around 1:00 am and security apprehended him. Before the flight took off to Atlanta, security searched through the aircraft with dogs as a precaution.
