ABC 13 reports the male suspect, who is also a soldier, ended his own life after he was confronted by investigators in Killeen, Texas. Guillen’s sister, Mayra said during a press conference earlier today that she had met the person of interest but she did not disclose his identity. She states “I met him not knowing that he had something to do with it. I felt something was telling me that he did something and I wasn’t wrong apparently. He still had the nerve that day to laugh in my face. And apparently now, he kills himself. Why? I don’t know. But whoever is responsible has to pay and we demand a Congressional investigation.”

The family believes Guillen is presumed dead after human remains were found yesterday in a shallow grave. They believe they belong to the 20-year-old soldier. Before her disappearance on April 22, Guillen reported that she was a victim of sexual harassment at Fort Hood.

The Army has been relatively quiet about Gruillen’s case as the family continues to seek answers. In the following statement, the Army CID wrote:

“Due to extensive investigative work conducted by Special Agents from the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command, agents have returned to an area of interest close to the Leon River, Bell County, Texas for more investigative work in the search for PFC Vanessa Guillen. After receiving additional information, agents have discovered what has been described as partial human remains after analysis from a forensic anthropologist. Army CID agents are currently on scene with the Texas Rangers, the FBI and Bell County Sheriff’s Department. No confirmation as to the identity of the remains has been made at this point and we ask for the media and public’s understanding that the identification process can take time. Due to the ongoing criminal investigation, no further information will be released at this time.”
