Fox News reports the announcement was made by National Guard spokeswoman Lt. Col. Brooke Davis earlier today but she did not reveal the number of cases. It is known that 1,300 members of the National Guard were deployed to help police ease tension with protestors and some of those members are infected by the coronavirus.

“We can confirm that we have had COVID-19-positive tests with the DCNG. For operational security, we are not confirming the number of COVID-19 cases.”

Davis said those who have tested positive will be quarantined and be prevented from being deployed until they have fully recovered.  Also, prior to their deployment, all members were tested before going out in the streets to interact with police and protestors.

Throughout the country, protesters are encouraged to get tested and remain in quarantine for at least two weeks to prevent infection and increased cases of the disease. They are also asked to wear masks and practice social distancing during protests as told by the World Health Organization.

“WHO fully supports equality and the global movement against racism. We reject discrimination of all kinds. We encourage all those protesting around the world to do so safely.”
