Chicago Police Officer Who Flipped Off Protestors Stripped Of Powers & Sent To Desk Duty

The Chicago police officer who flipped off a crowd of protestors during a demonstration last week has been stripped of his powers and sent to desk duty.

After Police Superintendent David O. Brown extended his middle fingers to demonstrators last Thursday (June 4), the Chicago Police Department issued a statement on Tuesday (June 9) that they’ve relieved Brown of his police powers.

In their statement, which described the officer’s conduct as “unbecoming,” they stated, “The officer used a vulgar, offensive gesture directed at a member of the public while on duty and in uniform. The member will be limited to administrative duties at the direction of the Superintendent.”

Additionally, Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot also saw the photograph and shared her thoughts. She said, “We’ll find that person and in my view, that person needs to be immediately stripped of their police power and start the process for firing him.”
