Lizzo vs. TikTok: App Restores Posts After Backlash

After Lizzo accused popular app TikTok of removing certain posts of her from its platform, the Grammy-award winning artist blasted them on their own platform — and now they’re bowing down.

Before being shared and viewed over 12M times, the “Truth Hurts” singer posted, “TikTok keeps taking down my videos with me in my bathing suits. But allows other videos with girls in bathing suits. I wonder why? TikTok… we need to talk.”

Backpedaling in their tracks, the app restored her posts, claiming they originally believed it violated community guidelines, but proved to be otherwise. A spokesperson added, “I just want to express how amazing Lizzo is as a creator, as an artist and as a trendsetter. And our community loves her, so immediately, as soon as we saw it might be an issue, looked into it. And our team is in touch with her team, so when she’s like ‘Tik Tok let’s talk,’ our team talks.”

Furthermore, the singer, who promotes body positivity in her music and across all social platforms, received tons of support after her video calling out the app.
