76ers Launch Investigation Into Disturbing Racism Allegations On Dance Team

The Philadelphia 76ers have launched an investigation following allegations of racism and bullying on their dance team. The allegations caused a stir on social media after former dancer Yahne Coleman shared her experience.
Singer Trey Songz shared her posts online and brought awareness to the abuse.
Yahne, a Black dancer, who is no longer on the team, shared her experience on Instagram that she was racially profiled against by other members of the team. We shared a video of one of the dancers identified as Annie, belittling her and throwing racial epithets. Following the videos going viral and the public becoming aware if the incident the Sixers then released a statement, adding that they will be investigating.
“Tonight, we were made aware of social media posts involving former dance team members that contained insensitive, offensive and unacceptable remarks, as well as allegations of bullying and racist behavior.
The videos, which were filmed in 2016, featured derogatory comments from a former dance team member who left the organization in 2013.
We take this situation very seriously. We intend to investigate this matter immediately and remain committed to fostering a culture of inclusion and equality.”
Yahne also reported the abuse to dance team coach Dayna Hafetz and Lara Price, the 76ers’ former senior Vice President, but no action was taken.
The main culprit of the videos has since attempted to apologize to Yahne after she faced backlash online.
