Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers has placed 500 National Guardsmen on standby due to the high-profile trial. According to Yahoo! News, the National Guard will stand guard outside of Kenosha as a backup if requested by local law enforcement. “I urge folks who are otherwise not from the area to please respect the community by reconsidering any plans to travel there and encourage those who might choose to assemble and exercise their First Amendment rights to do so safely and peacefully,” Evers said.
Rittenhouse testified in court that he fired multiple shots in self-defense after he was allegedly attacked by protestors in Kenosha last year. Anthony Huber,26, and Joseph Rosenbaum,36, were both killed in the shooting. Gaige Grosskreutz,27, was injured shortly after.
