Desiigner has reacted to 50 Cent after the G-Unit leader said he chose not to sign the “Panda” artist.

In an Instagram video posted on Tuesday (September 3), the Brooklyn rapper showed off his skills with a freestyle, taking aim at 50 Cent while rapping over a beat in the car. Desiigner tagged 50 Cent and media personality Akademiks in his caption, calling them “trolls.”

While appearing on Gillie Da Kid and Wallo’s Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast last week, 50 Cent shared that he had considered signing Desiigner to G-Unit Records before the rapper joined Def Jam and Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music. “The n-gga came to me, what’s the n-gga’s name? He sounded like Future. Panda, panda, panda,” he said, struggling to remember Desiigner by his name. “I met with him before he did the deal with Kanye and them.” However, 50 Cent’s interest faded when he asked the up-and-coming rapper to share some of his other music. “I had him at the office. I was like, ‘Yo, let me hear the other records you got.’ And he’s like… ‘That’s it,’” he continued. “And the sh*t was so hot that he had, I was struggling. But I was like, ‘Nah, I can’t give that n***a that money. Let them give him whatever the f*** they gonna give him.’”

50 Cent’s concerns proved valid as Desiigner found it difficult to match the success of “Panda,” which hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2016 and was certified five times platinum.

After releasing several singles and projects, the now 27-year-old rapper left G.O.O.D. Music and Def Jam in 2019. However, he recently reconnected with Kanye West by featuring on the track “Sky City” from the Vultures 2 project.
