Detroit, Michigan rapper 42 Dugg is facing an additional 5 years in prison after entering a new guilty plea in his 2020 gun case.

42 Dugg Faces 5 More Years In Prison After Entering Guilty Plea In Gun Case

Back in March 2020, Dugg, real name Dion Marquise Hayes, 28, was arrested for for being a felon in possession of a firearm. Federal agents received a tip that he was firing a gun at an Atlanta gun range. Prior to, Dugg, was convicted on carjacking charges, and not permitted to possess any weapons.

On August 9, 2021, Dugg pleaded guilty to the felony firearm indictment, and things looked pretty rough for Dugg. But on November 8, things appeared to turn around, with Dugg scoring a victory in court.

It was revealed that the “Maybach” rapper would not have to serve any time in prison, instead he would only need to serve three years of probation.

Then things took another turn on December 10, 2021, when Dugg was ordered back to court over several positive test results for use of controlled substances, plus an arrest in Nevada for Obstruction of Law Enforcement and Battery, while on probation.

So, on February 1, 2022, the judge in Dugg’s case revoked his probation and ordered him to do six months in prison, followed by two years of supervised release.

Things continued to pile up for Dugg after he failed to surrender to officials at a West Virginia prison on April 12, 2022. Subsequently, an arrest warrant was issued on April 27, and in May, the rapper was arrested in Detroit by federal agents.

Following the rapper’s arrest, it was reported that he was then facing up to five years in prison for breaching the law again. Now, nearly a year after his arrest for failure to surrender, Dugg has pleaded guilty to possession of an illegal firearm — which, for him, again equates to … additional prison time being faced.

In addition to the five years he was facing for failing to surrender last year, he is now facing an additional five years behind bars for pleading guilty to illegal gun possession.

It is reported that during his hearing, Dugg admitted to the court that he intentionally failed to surrender and perform his six months in jail for unlawfully carrying a firearm. In addition to his additional five years in prison, the rapper also faces a fine of $250,000.
