2 Buffalo Police Officers Suspended After Violently Shoving 75-Year-Old Protestor To Ground
On Thursday evening, a video went viral showing two Buffalo, New York police officers, walking with their crew enforcing curfew, violently shoving a 75-year-old protestor to the ground — causing him to hit his head and bleed out. They’ve since been suspended without pay.
In the graphic video, two officers confront the elderly man and shove him to the ground, causing him to hit his head on the ground and begin bleeding. While one of the officers involved attempts to check on him, a third officer grabs his vest, implying “keep walking.” He then begins to pull on his walkie talkie to presumably call a medic. While the man has not yet been identified, he is said to be in serious, but stable condition at a local hospital.
Subsequently, the video caused an uproar on social media, and ultimately landed in front of Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown and New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. Mayor Brown stated he was “deeply disturbed by the video,” and confirmed an investigation has been opened, and that the two officers have been suspended without pay.

This incident is wholly unjustified and utterly disgraceful.
I've spoken with Buffalo @MayorByronBrown and we agree that the officers involved should be immediately suspended pending a formal investigation.
Police Officers must enforce — NOT ABUSE — the law. https://t.co/EYIbTlXnPt
