Ryan Garcia is opening up about his fight with Devin Haney and being accused of taking performance-enhancing drugs prior to the boxing match.

As we all know, Garcia had an impressive fight against Devin Haney but the win was quickly overshadowed by reports of the boxer testing positive for Ostarine the day before the fight. As we previously reported, Garcia spoke out and denied the claims, but while being a guest on The Fully Tilted podcast, Garcia admitted to being “high” during the fight. “It was literally drinking every day, smoking weed. I didn’t stop not even until the f***ing day of the fight. And I got in there high as f*** and I beat his ass. It was a walk in the f***ing park. I had harder fights in sparring.”

In more recent news about the allegations against Garcia, the boxer has recently requested to have his B-sample tested after his original test that came back positive for the performance-enhancing drug ostarine.

Though we don’t know if the allegations are true, his opponent Devin Haney recently released a statement and shared his disappointment about the situation. The 25-year-old said, “We learned about this situation not too long ago and it’s unfortunate Ryan cheated and disrespected both the fans and the sport of boxing by fighting dirty and breaking positive not once, but twice.”

He continued, “I’ve always been an advocate for clean fighting and this is an example of such. Ryan owes the fans an apology, and by his recent tweet, he still thinks this is a joke. We put our lives on the line to entertain people for a living. You don’t play boxing. This puts the fight in a completely different light. Despite the disadvantage, I still fought on my shield and got back up!”

He concluded, “People die in this sport. This isn’t a joking matter.”

Prior to the boxing match at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., Garcia’s fans were worried about his mental health because of his social media antics, promotional interviews, and press conferences. His previous behavior left many speculating whether he was trolling when Garcia entered the ring and knocked down Haney three times on his way to a surprising majority decision victory.

Following his victory, Garcia stated that much of his public behavior was genuine. “I don’t give a f*ck what people say about me,” Garcia told reporters post-fight. “I walked through the fire and still held it down and still beat f*cking Devin Haney, and still drank every day and still beat him. I did everything. “What happened? False reality, right? I drank every single night. Went out on the first Monday and Tuesday (of fight week), and drank, drank, drank. What happened? I won. I’m not necessarily proud of it, but I’m just saying. It was a statement to say you guys can’t really f*ck with me. I can do whatever I want.”

Garcia and Haney have a lengthy history that goes back to their amateur days, having faced each other seven times in total, with Garcia currently holding a 4-3 advantage. Despite the competitive nature, Garcia was considered a notable underdog in the fight, primarily due to concerns regarding his mental well-being before the fight but he was able to pull it off and shock the world.
