Rihanna is taking a different approach for her 2024 MET Gala look. While speaking with E News over the weekend about the upcoming event, the icon explained why she has decided to just wear something “chill” this year.
Rihanna was seen at her Fenty Beauty Soft’lit Foundation at an event in Los Angeles, California, on April 26, and spoke with multiple news outlets about the Met and said “I’m actually keeping it real simple this year. … It’s gonna come to what my makeup and what my hair is going to do,” Rihanna said to Extra. While speaking with E News she explained that her outfit will be simple because she’s a “mom and doesn’t have time for a lot of sh*t.”
Overall she says the outfit that she decided to pick will chill and she described it as “Very simple-ish … compared to everything I have done. I am showing up for dinner,” she then teased.
The Met Gala, also known as the Met Ball, is an annual fundraising event for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City. The event marks the grand opening of the Institute’s annual fashion exhibit and is one of the most prestigious events in the fashion calendar.
The Met Gala is attended by some of the biggest names in the fashion, entertainment, and art industries, with celebrities, designers, and socialites all vying for an invitation to the exclusive event. Each year, the Gala has a different theme, which sets the tone for the evening and influences the dress code for attendees.
The dress code for 2024 will be “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” the upcoming Costume Institute exhibit will feature approximately 250 items that span over 400 years of history, according to PEOPLE magazine.
As we all know, Rihanna is always stepping in the latest fashion and shutting down the red carpet but after being a mother of two the fashion icon is choosing to sit in the back seat this year and be simple. Which there’s nothing wrong with when it comes to being a busy mother.
During the interview Rihanna also explained her two sons bring a whole new purpose to her life. “They bring purpose to every aspect of my life,” Rihanna explained to E! News. “Everything has to be intentional, and everything has to be worth it—especially when it takes me away from them.”
“It makes me feel really cool to be a boy mom,” she added. “I get to be as casual and busted as I want to, but it also forces me to embrace the epic things about being a woman and female and all my femininity—I embrace it so much more now.”
