Zendaya has reacted to the news that she’s broken several records after scooping up multiple Emmy nominations on Tuesday. The 25-year-old received her second Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series nomination for “Euphoria,” subsequently making history by becoming the youngest two-time nominee in this category.

Zendaya, who is also an executive producer on the HBO series, was further nominated for Outstanding Drama Series, which she — once again — broke the record for being the youngest ever female producer nominee. The “Malcolm & Marie” star expressed her happiness in a statement to Vanity Fair, saying, “I’m overwhelmed. It’s absolutely insane.”

“The show obviously means so much to me and so much to everyone who makes it. People put their absolute heart and soul into this, and I am so lucky to share this with all of them. I’ve already talked to so many people on FaceTime, and I have a lot more texts to send out. But I am so proud of our team and the work we do together. I’m very, very proud.”

“Euphoria” received a total of 16 nominations, including Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama for Sydney Sweeney and Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for Martha Kelly. Not to mention, Zendaya also received a nod in the category Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for her songs “Elliot’s Song” and “I’m Tired” featuring Labrinth.

Speaking of her creative decision to collaborate with the British singer-songwriter, she told the publication “The intention was just to work with Lab in a deeper sense, and he always creates such a warm environment to collaborate.”

“Whenever we made things on set, it was just about the goal of enhancing the emotional journey of these characters and how to tell the story through another medium—so yeah, I had no idea I would be a part of this today. It’s very cool.”

Earlier this year, HBO announced it had renewed “Euphoria” for a third series, though it remains unclear when production will commence for the next season, given Zendaya’s hectic schedule with multiple movie projects in the pipeline. It’s believed that the cast of “Euphoria” won’t shoot for season three until early next year.

Zendaya previously slammed claims that the show was glorifying drug use, and that her character did not have enough screen time, to which she told Entertainment Weekly, “It was important for certain characters who we didn’t really get to see much of last season having more time to get to know them and explore their characters.

“But it’s kind of also Rue as an unreliable narrator, in the sense that she’s just trying to skate by without people noticing that she’s doing what she’s doing, and trying not to get caught.”
