YouTubers Alan & Alex Stokes Facing Felony Charges After Bank Robbery Pranks
YouTubers and TikTokers Alan and Alex Stokes are facing serious felony charges after pulling off bank robbery pranks for their fans.
The 23-year-old twins, who’ve amassed over 4.8 million subscribers on their Stokes Twins YouTube page, staged two fake bank robberies in Irvine, California last October, with one ending up with a Uber driver held a gunpoint by police. Subsequently, the brothers have both been charged with one felony count of false imprisonment and a misdemeanor count for falsely reporting an emergency. If convicted on all counts, the twins face a maximum sentence of four years in a state prison.

Explaining how the prank went down, the Orange County District Attorney’s office says the twins dressed in all black and carried duffle bags full of cash. They proceeded to summon an Uber as their videographer caught it all from afar. Upon entering the vehicle, the driver refused to drive off, clearly unaware of their prank. Police were then called after a bystander, also unaware, reported the brothers for robbing a bank and attempting to carjack the Uber. Upon police arrival, the twins exited the vehicle, leaving the driver at gunpoint.
After the driver was released for his non-involvement, the twins were given a warning. However, the D.A. adds that four hours later, they staged a similar prank at the University of California, Irvine, ending with police being called about a bank robbery.
