Olympe, a 23-year-old YouTuber, told her 255,000 subscribers that she was in contact with doctors in Belgium about assisted suicide. Assisted suicide is legal in the country, but according to one of the doctors she spoke with, the process can take months or years before someone can access assisted suicide services.
Olympe documents her mental health journey on YouTube, and she claims to have 40 personalities. She stated in an Instagram post that her decision is final. ‘This is not a debate. This is my life. ‘It was a difficult decision for me to make,’ she wrote in the post. The young woman also stated that she was unable to bear the burdens of her condition as a result of sexual abuse and moving from different foster homes throughout her childhood.

Yves de Locht, a Brussels doctor, was approached by the young woman, but he initially denied claims that the procedure was in the works.
‘We do not refuse to meet (people like her) but we explain to them that the process can last months or even years. This young woman has announced the end of her life at the end of the year. This date certainly doesn’t come from me. I need much more information before envisaging meeting her. The young YouTuber has since stressed she does not wish to set an ‘example’ for young people, and urges those with dark thoughts to ‘find people around them to lean on’.
As written by the Daily Mail, the procedure is illegal in France and people have been seeking help in countries such as Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany, and Spain. In the United Kingdom, assisted suicide is considered illegal and it is punishable by law. If convicted, an individual can serve up to 14 years in prison.
Fans of the Youtuber react to her decision and expressed their thoughts
After learning about Olympe’s decision to seek euthanasia to end her life, her fans reacted to the news. One fan wrote on Twitter, “I’ve been following Olympe on IG and YouTube for over a year. Since she announced that she will be euthanized by the end of the year troubles me enormously. I look at her reals and her photos and I have a hard time imagining that she will no longer be with us in a short time.”
Euthanasia is the practice of ending the life of a patient to limit the patient’s suffering. The patient in question would typically be terminally ill or experiencing great pain and suffering.

Discussing suicide no matter how weird it sounds is the key to prevention, she will be fine, God willing. 😊
