DJ Akademiks Reacts To Young Thug’s Arrest, Questions Why Rapper Previously Said He Would Kill YFN Lucci On Instagram As Prosecutors Continue To Pile Up Evidence In RICO Case

After being denied bond for a third time since his arrest in May, it’s more than likely Young Thug will continue to serve time behind bars until January when his trial in his RICO case begins. And while many people have since reacted to Thugger’s arrest, DJ Akademiks is now weighing in on the situation after recently sitting down with Vlad TV to discuss the rapper’s heap of criminal charges.

While Thug’s attorneys are contending that their client is innocent, stressing that his rap lyrics should not be taken into consideration by prosecutors who have since branded him a threat to society, Akademiks is still trying to make sense as to why the “Best Friend” hitmaker had previously taunted fellow rapper YFN Lucci on Instagram by threatening to kill him. Lucci’s name was mentioned in the indictment, with law enforcement officers accusing Thug of previously giving permission to have his rival murdered by two YSL members in prison.

Not to mention, prosecutors also believe Thug was behind Lucci’s mother being shot at, which he seemingly bragged about in his song “Bad Boy.” According to the report, Thug tagged Lucci in an IG Story post and told him he could have ended his life if he wanted to. During his chat with Vlad, Akademiks asked, “Why would you get on Instagram on your Story and tag [Lucci] and say, ‘I would have been killed you.’ It’s one of those things where I’m like, yo, I’m one hundred percent also in the same school of thought of I hope they don’t weaponize lyrics, but then, the YSL situation is not one of those things where they say they’re weaponizing lyrics. They’re supported by a lot of sh*t that we don’t know.”

Vlad then went on to mention how text messages are also being considered in the RICO case as more evidence is piling up ahead of January’s trial — and from what’s been gathered so far, things aren’t looking that great for Thug and his associates. The 31-year-old, alongside rapper Gunna and 26 other YSL members were arrested in May, as it’s alleged that the YSL is not a record label but a street gang who have been tied to multiple crimes including murder and racketeering.

Earlier this week, it was revealed how AEG was suing Thug for breaching their contract when he agreed to give them exclusive rights to his concerts but ended up continuing doing private shows and profiting hundreds of thousands of dollars in appearance fees. The company said they gave him a $5 million advance payment which they now want back, including the rights to the “Young Thug” trademark and portions of his publishing catalog.
