YNW Melly Prosecutors Want His Tattoos To Prove ‘Criminal Gang’ Ties As They Seek The Death Penalty
As they seek the death penalty for rapper YNW Melly, Florida prosecutors are pushing for photos of his tattoos to prove his “criminal gang” ties. While it’s been known for lyrics to get rappers arrested, charged and convicted, it looks like tattoos are the newest piece of evidence needed for prosecutors to win.
YNW Melly, who’s been arrested and charged with two counts of murder in 2019, has plead not guilty to all crimes and is currently awaiting trial. On February 8, the State of Florida filed a motion to take photographs of Melly’s tattoos, with the hopes of them serving as evidence of his “gang affiliation.”

They claimed the photos would not be used “for the purpose of having the defendant pose for a reenactment,” but instead would be intended to document their claim of “gang-affiliated tattoos.” In previous documents seeking the death penalty, the State called Melly a “criminal gang member,” who they feel isn’t deserving of life in prison. To prosecutors, these photos would support their claims in previous and future documentation. #Socialites, thoughts?
