Yass! Rihanna just earned her first-ever Golden Globe Award nomination for “Lift Me Up” from Wakanda Forever!

Rihanna is ending off the year strong! The superstar just scored her first-ever Golden Globe nomination for the song “Lift Me Up” off of the “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” soundtrack.

That right! The nominations for the 2023 awards shows were announced this Monday and Riri earned a nod in the “Best Orginal Song” category along with Tems, Rihanna, Ryan Coogler, and Ludwig Göransson.

Celebrating the big moment, Rihanna quickly reacted to the good news on Twitter. She tweeted, “God be showin out! AM

The Orginal Song Catergory also includes,,
“Carolina” – “Where the Crawdads
Sing, “Ciao Papa” – “Guillermo del Toro’s
Pinocchio,” Hold My Hand” – “Top Gun:
Maverick,“ and “Naatu Naatu” – “RRR.”

Rihanna made her highly anticipated musical return back in October when she announced that she would be stepping k to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. According to a press release, “Lift Me Up” was written as a tribute to the life and legacy of Chadwick Boseman who sadly died following his secret battle with colon cancer.

“After speaking with Ryan and hearing his direction for the film and the song, I wanted to write something that portrays a warm embrace from all the people that I’ve lost in my life. I tried to imagine what it would feel like if I could sing to them now and express how much I miss them,” Tems said in a statement. “Rihanna has been an inspiration to me so hearing her convey this song is a great honor.”

Now despite the great reaction to her heartwarming song, Rihanna has said that the new track doesn’t mean that an album is coming soon. Aside from this, the new mom is also set to perform at the Super Bowl for the halftime show, something that she’s also extremely excited about.
