Y’all Here For This? Jussie Smollett Is Directing A New Movie Starring Vivica A. Fox As He Appeals Conviction In Hate Crime Hoax Case

Jussie Smollett is not canceled in Vivica Fox’s book!

Jussie Smollett has been spotted out filing a new film and it stars the veteran actress! Now, despite his looming legal case, it seems like he’s been able to put his time and energy into something else.

Pictures taken by Backgrid and obtained by TMZ, show the two working closely together for “The Lost Holiday.” They have a tight relationship and it probably grew stronger during the times Jussie and Vivica both starred in “Empire” back in 2019 when Jussie was allegedly attacked in Chicago. Fox was among a few celebrities who stood by his side even after police claim that the incident turned out to be a hoax and ultimately led to the conviction he’s now appealing.

To prove just how tight their bond is, Fox recently posted a sweet video of Jussie singing happy birthday to her.

More On Jussie Smollette’s Legal Problems

As we previously reported, Smollett was found guilty of 5 out of the 6 felony counts against him for lying to police about the hoax hate crime. In 2022, Smollett was sentenced to 150 days in jail for his hate crime hoax in a Chicago courtroom.

At the time, his sentencing included 30 months felony probation, $120,106 in restitution to the city of Chicago, and pay a $25,000 fine. During the hearing, the judge called the actor an “arrogant, selfish, narcissistic” person for plotting the hate crime in order to boost his profile in the social justice movement and become more famous as a result.

Jussie Smollett was released from jail following six nights in the slammer after an appeals court agreed with his lawyers that he should be free pending the appeal of his conviction for lying to police about a racist and homophobic attack.

Since then, the former “Empire” actor has filed opening arguments, as he appeals his conviction for the hate crime hoax. Attorneys for Jussie Smollett officially filed an appeal challenging the actor’s disorderly conduct conviction.
