Security cameras captured a woman who was seen wearing a mask and hooded shirt while she broke into the Wellspring Health Access Clinic in Casper. Authorities said the woman acted alone and described her as a white woman who is about 5 feet and 7 inches with a medium build as reported by Metro UK. The arson attempt took place last month and police believe she acted alone.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, they discovered a broken window and smoke coming out of the building. A witness who called the police said they heard the suspect breaking a glass window and saw her leaving with a gas can and a black bag.

“The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Denver Field Division (ATF) is offering a $5,000 reward to anyone who provides information leading to an arrest of the suspect.
Those with information are encouraged to call the ATF at 307-633-9400. Upon review and analysis of available surveillance footage, investigators located video of the suspect intentionally setting fire to the building. The suspect, who investigators believe acted alone, is believed to be a white female, medium build, standing between 5’6” and 5’8” tall. The suspect was wearing a surgical mask for the majority of the time she is on surveillance footage, aside from one moment in which she pulls the mask down. The suspect entered the building around 3:30 am and was inside the building for around fifteen minutes.”

No injuries were reported at the time of the fire and investigators said the inside of the building was damaged. The clinic was scheduled to be officially opened in mid-June but due to the fire, the date was pushed back, organizers said in a statement. Prior to the fire, the only medical abortion clinic that was available in the state was located in Jackson, which is five hours away from the new building.

‘Despite these setbacks, we are undeterred in our mission to give the people of Casper access to comprehensive reproductive health care, including abortion care.’

Recently, Wyoming became one of the states that passed laws that would’ve restricted abortions if the United States Supreme Court decided to overturn Roe v. Wade. An opinion from the Supreme Court was leaked by the public where there was a possibility that the law could’ve been overturned.

If overturned, the state would only permit abortions in the case of “life endangerment, rape or incest” and it may be performed only  “in cases of life endangerment or severely compromised health.” as reported by the Guttmacher Institute.

“There were 2 facilities providing abortion in Wyoming in 2017, and 2 of those were clinics. These numbers represent no change in clinics from 2014 when there were three abortion-providing facilities overall, of which one was clinics.”
