Sha’Carri Richardson is not a happy passenger! The track star was kicked off an American Airlines flight on Saturday following an altercation with a flight attendant, and she’s now sharing the wild encounter with her supporters on Instagram.
In the clip, the 23-year-old claimed the flight attendant, whom Richardson identifies as “John,” disrespected her while she was speaking on her phone prior to takeoff. She said,
“Tell me if I’ll be wrong to pursue legal actions against the airline @ americanair. [Not] only did the man threaten me but also an innocent bystander who simply just wanted a picture with me. In the beginning of the video, you can hear a Caucasian male state that he doesn’t give an f as a man, that [a] male flight attendant is intimidating a woman. Also, the captain not doing anything to help the situation and this flight attendant [applauded] when I exited the plane when I’m pretty serious the disrespect I received would not have happened if I was one of them. One of them even stated good luck with your ban ( I see he took the time to do some research but [did] not stand up for what’s right) soooo @ americanair this flight attendant’s name was John and he refused to state his last name. However [he] and the lady y’all see standing next to him looked me up ☺️💅🏾also if I see videos posted from this flight, watch.”
NFL player Odell Beckham Jr. reacted to her situation to American Airlines as he too had a similar experience. He commented under her post, “TELLL ME U GIT KICKED OFFF THE AMERICAN FLIGHT FOR NO REASON,” adding laughing emojis. He said in another comment, “ WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIINITTTTTTTTT. BUTTT IM THE ASSSSHOLE.
As we previously reported, the NFL wide receiver was “removed” from an American Airlines flight in Miami after the flight’s crew expressed concern over the football player’s health, according to police. When officers arrived, Beckham allegedly refused several requests to exit the plane, police claimed. After the aircraft was deplaned, Beckham followed requests by officers to exit the plane “without incident,” according to authorities.
After video of the incident was released to the public, he spoke out to address the situation. He said at the time:
“Can’t address everything in this world, it’s exhausting. Errbody got an opinion on situations they weren’t involved in,” he wrote. “All u can do is kno who u truly are […] YES. I do regret them makin everyone get off the plane. All I asked from the people was the reason as to why I’m being removed. They didn’t provide one except for that I was sleep … People were delayed for two hrs! I was delayed an ENTIRE WEEEK from seeing my son … there were no flights the rest of that day and the next day. So we all have shxt to do nobody’s biz was more important than the next. I was minding my own bizness. Not bothering anyone.”
Beckham’s attorney, Daniel Davillier, also addressed the matter shortly after his client was removed from the plane.
“At no time was Mr. Beckham disruptive or combative,” Davillier said in a statement. “He was willing to comply with the seatbelt requirement, but the flight attendant wanted to prove that he had the authority to have Mr. Beckham removed from the flight.”
