Socialites, a video of a Nashville cop threatening to arrest stranded Southwest passengers is going viral on social media — and people are rightfully furious. Amid the recent traveling chaos customers of Southwest Airlines experienced during the Christmas period, after this mother and daughter found out their flight from Nashville airport had been canceled, they were approached by a police officer.
The cop, who has not been identified, comes to the gate to address the Southwest Airlines customers that if they didn’t have a valid ticket, they needed to move elsewhere to avoid being arrested for trespassing. “If you have no ticket, you don’t need to be on the secured side,” the officer says, prompting one person to respond, “But we have tickets.” The cop interjected and stated, “Your ticket just got canceled.”

Amani Robinson, who posted the video to her TikTok account is then seen recording her mother asking the cop why any of them would be arrested for trespassing, which is when he reiterated that those who don’t have a valid flight ticket and continued to stand “on the secured side” would be detained.
One person argued that the reason that their ticket was no longer would simply be because of the havoc at the airport over delays and cancelations, adding that Southwest Airlines had just sent them a text saying that the flight would arrive at a later time.
But the cop didn’t want to hear any of that, standing firmly by his beliefs that the flight had been canceled and that meant he had the supposed right to threaten people with trespassing if they didn’t leave the secured side, referring to an area near the ticket counter.
It was later uncovered that the flight was, in fact, canceled, despite the text message sent out by Southwest Airlines. Still, would that have given a cop the right to threaten customers with an arrest for trespassing?
As the video began to circulate on social media, with many outraged people questioning why the airline customers had to put up with the officer’s ways, Amani stated that nobody at the airport was disrespectful to the cop for him to have behaved the way that he did.
