Socialites, here’s some interesting news to kick off your Thursday… Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is expected to announce his big presidential campaign next week, according to two Republicans familiar with the matter who spoke with CNN.
It was said that he will soon file papers with the FEC to declare his candidacy, formally entering Mr. DeSantis into the 2024 presidential race.
Of course, this will be an interesting face-off with his one-time ally, former President Donald Trump. The ex Prez has already taken a little jab at his rival, previously dubbing him “Ron DeSanctimonious” while noting that his new challenger was previously fully devoted to Team Trump.
Will Ron DeSantis Have A Good Chance?
Although the two-term Governor has been widely supported by the Republicans, Democrats have not been too supportive for a list of reasons including his stance on the LGBTQ community.
Earlier this week, DeSantis signed the Let Kids Be Kids bill package to protect Florida’s children from permanent mutilating surgical procedures, gender identity politics in schools, and attending sexually explicit adult performances like drag shows.

In response to the bill signings, Florida Senate Democrats released a statement calling the package a “slate of anti-LGBTQ legislation.”
“These bills take us several steps back as a society that’s fought hard for progress and equality. Being gay or trans isn’t perverse. It isn’t dangerous. What’s dangerous is the discrimination legalized today,” Senate Democratic Leader Lauren Book (D-Davie) said per CBS12. “These bills are hypocritical and against the stated values of elected Republicans. They say that they trust teachers, but accuse them of indoctrination. They say they’re for parental rights, but only for the parents they agree with. Let Floridians live their lives freely, equally, and without undue and discriminatory government interference.”
Despite major backlash, DeSantis said “Florida is proud to lead the way in standing up for our children. As the world goes mad, Florida represents a refuge of sanity and a citadel of normalcy.”

Does Donald Trump Have A Good Run At The Next Presidential Election?
Now, although the one-term, impeached ex president became the first commander in chief to be criminally charged, Trump is still all in to compete for the top spot in the White House.
“They can’t beat us at the ballot box, so they try to beat us through the law,” Trump said to his supporters in Florida after his arrest last month. “We are a nation in decline, and now these radical left lunatics want to interfere in elections by using law enforcement,” Trump said, tying his prosecution and the multiple investigations he faces to his false claims of a rigged 2020 election. “We can’t let that happen.”
