A Houston woman who broke the Guinness World Record for the world’s longest fingernails says she is cutting them shorter to perform household chores.

Ayanna Williams broke the record in 2017 when her fingernails were measured at approximately 19 feet and said it takes her more than 20 hours and several nail polishes to complete a manicure. The nail artist said the last time she cut her nails was back in the 1990s and measured them before making the major move at 24ft, 0.7 in. The nails will be placed on display at Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! museum in Orlando, Florida.

The staff at a Fort Worth dermatology clinic used an electric rotary tool to cut the nails and Williams says she will regrow her nails to about six more inches. Additionally, the new trim will allow her to do activities she wasn’t about to do before such as washing the dishes and changing the sheets on her bed as reported by CNN.

She doesn’t plan to break any records again but she hopes her story inspires someone else to break her record.
