LaQuedra Edwards was at a convenience store in Los Angeles County and planned to spend $40 on several lottery tickets in November 2021. However, Edwards was caught off guard when a stranger pushed her into the California Lottery Scratchers machine and caused the mother to hit the wrong buttons. The shove resulted in Edwards buying a $30 200X Scratchers ticket.

Despite the man’s rude behavior, Edwards was in for a surprise when she scratched off the ticket in her car. ‘He just bumped into me, didn’t say a thing, and just walked out the door. I’m still in shock. All I remember saying once I found out how much I just won was, “I’m rich!”‘ she explained.

Edwards added that she was in disbelief to the point where she almost crashed her vehicle on the freeway.

‘I got on the 405 freeway and kept looking down and it and almost crashed my car. I pulled over, looked at it again and again, scanned it with my [CA Lottery] app, and I just kept thinking this can’t be right.’

She says she plans to buy a house with the lottery winnings and launch a non-profit organization.

State lottery officials did not confirm if Edwards used a fake identity as reported by the Daily Mail.
