Woman Who Cut Off Hand In $1M Insurance Scam Is Sentenced To Prison
A 22-year-old Slovenian woman, who cut off her hand in a $1M insurance scam, has been sentenced to prison after going to extreme lengths for a big, EPIC-FAILED, payday.
The woman, Julija Adlesic, concocted the idea with her boyfriend in an attempt to collect large insurance policies they took out on her; it included five different plans, totaling upwards of $1.16 million. In order to collect, the couple ended up cutting off Adlesic’s hand with a circular saw.

They then filed the claims, as a disability, claiming Adlesic had an accident while cutting branches. While the couple expected to rake in the dough with the policies set to pay her half upfront and the balance in monthly installments, the only thing Adlesic saw was an arrest and sentencing of two years in prison. Meanwhile, her boyfriend received three years.
Furthermore, during trial, prosecutors discovered the couple had various internet searches regarding fake hands a few days before the incident. In addition, they found that Adlesic intentionally left her hand at home when going to the hospital — ensuring that the disability would be permanent. However, authorities ended up retrieving her hand and Adlesic had it sewed back on.
