A woman took to social media to share the moment that a fellow passenger was weighed in front of others on the airport’s baggage scale.
The incident was shared by @lilwessel on TikTok, and shows the passenger standing on a baggage scale at the airport. In the caption of the video, the poster claimed the woman was being weighed because they were traveling on a small plane, and the woman had allegedly said she was 130lbs when asked by airline staff.
“The whole airport trying to mind their own business as a woman is asked to step on the BAGGAGE SCALE because she claimed she was 130lbs,” the caption said.
“It’s a tiny plane so they needed our weight to take off for safety reasons,” the poster added
Upon posting the video, many commenters responded by sympathizing ti the woman who was getting weighed and adding that it was humiliating. While others criticized the Tik Toker for filming the incident.
Tik Toker also received backlash for sharing the incident online
“Y’all need to stop taking pics of strangers and posting it online, it’s weird and disrespectful,” one person said.
Some also noted that on some small planes, weighing passengers is part of safety measures to make sure the plane can take off safely.
“Weight and balance are really important on small aircraft!!” one said, while another added: “I mean, they have to make sure the weight is balanced if it’s a smaller plane.”
She identifies as skinny.
