Former Oklahoma resident Caron McBride said she discovered she was wanted for embezzlement when she attempted to change her name at a local DMV after getting married in Texas. After contacting the Cleveland County District Attorney’s Office, McBride said the charge was filed on March 2000 after she failed to return a rented copy of “Sabrina The Teenage Witch” in 1999. She further explained that she rented the tape when she was in a relationship with a man who had two kids.

“She told me it was over the VHS tape, and I had to make her repeat it because I thought, ‘This is insane. This girl is kidding me, right?’ She wasn’t kidding. I had lived with a young man — this was over 20 years ago. He had two kids, daughters that were 8, 10, or 11 years old, and I’m thinking he went and got it and didn’t take it back or something. I have never watched that show in my entire life, just not my cup of tea. Meanwhile, I’m a wanted felon for a VHS tape.”

According to MSN, she rented the tape from “Movie Place” but the business closed its doors in 2008. Thankfully, the district attorney will be dismissing the case on Wednesday. However, an explanation for the charge has yet to be revealed since Oklahoma’s law requires a property to be over $500.
