Authorities said Rebecca Lanette Taylor,49, approached the woman and her infant son at the checkout line at a Walmart in Crockett and started commenting on his blonde hair and blue eyes.  “She asked how much she could purchase him for. [The mom] tried to laugh this comment off, thinking Taylor was joking. Taylor told her that she had $250,000 in the car and she would pay that much for him. [Mom] told her no amount of money would do,” the police report reads.

Taylor was also accompanied by another woman who asked for the child’s name and the mother refuse to disclose that information. After being rejected, Taylor told the boy’s mother that she had been wanting to buy a child for a long time but the woman told her to leave her alone. When the mother walked over to the parking lot after checking out, Taylor approached her again and “began screaming at (the mom), saying if she wouldn’t take $250,000 for him, then she would give her $500,000 because she wanted him and she was going to take him.”
