A Louisiana woman was arrested for lying about being exposed to COVID-19 so she could have a month off from work.

According to KNOE, 24-year-old Elisha Johnson was arrested on Tuesday after she allegedly told staff at the Natchitoches Regional Medical Center that she was exposed to the coronavirus at her job. Authorities say she made the report on March 20 and explained that two individuals from her job had tested positive for COVID-19.

“While at the hospital she told the health care providers about her exposure and asked if she could get a 30-day excuse note to stay home from work. The health care providers told her of the self-quarantine guidelines that were made by the Center for Disease Control but she told them she was expected to be at work on Monday.”

Her false claim led to the doctors and staff to be placed under quarantine in order to prevent them from exposing it to patients. Johnson returned to the hospital on March 21 to be tested but told employees she was exposed to the virus.

Police charged her with criminal mischief and she is expected to appear in court on June 29.
